vaccination

Vaccination is a method of preventing certain microbial, viral, or parasitic infections by introducing active immunity into the body through the administration of preparations called vaccines. There are several types of vaccines:

  • Live vaccines are made from attenuated germs. This is the case, in particular, for vaccines against measles, rubella, and mumps. In fact, they stimulate the immune system without causing the infectious disease.
  • Inactivated vaccines. This is the case for the inactivated polio vaccine, inactivated toxins such as diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, the hepatitis B vaccine and Haemophilus influenzae B.

Vaccination begins very early in a child's life, starting at birth and continuing until adolescence.

At Ferhat Abbas University, vaccination is on the agenda, with mass vaccination (according to the national vaccination schedule) and the hepatitis B vaccine.

The hepatitis B vaccine concerns first-year students (newly enrolled) in Medicine, Dental Surgery and Pharmacy, and students in certain fields such as Biology.
